Community safety through policing is one of the most important, complex and nuanced services the City provides. This is especially true in recent years, as equity in policing continues to be a community priority, demand for police services grows and the public considers Proposition 4, the Police Services Levy.

With the impending retirement of our current Chief, Vancouver has an opportunity to continue its legacy of community-oriented, inclusive, and innovative police leadership.

The City is conducting an internal recruitment, which allows us to build on our established foundation while promoting trust, accountability and stability within the department. Internal candidates will bring deep institutional knowledge and a proven commitment to our community.
