Comments invited on Working Draft of "Downtown Access, Mobility, and Parking Plan: Focusing on People"

This plan aims to help transform downtown Vancouver into dynamic walkable neighborhoods that remain accessible and enjoyable as the population grows.

This is a 5-year plan from 2025 - 2030, with some work continuing beyond 2030. Advance public notice will be provided at each step.

Public Participation Results

Public Survey

Over 2500 people responded to the public survey between May and June 2024. Responses are summarized in the Existing Conditions Report on pages 72-73, and responded to each survey question can be found on pages 79-98.

Disability Community

To better understand the needs of community members who have a disability, the project team held a 90-minute online small-group conversation in July. These important comments are summarized in the Existing Conditions Report on page 73, and a detailed list of remarks prepared by City ADA Coordinator Jen Dugger Spalding can be found on pages 99-191. Downtown Hospitality

Downtown stakeholders in the hospitality industry shared comments at a 90-minute in-person meeting in July. These important insights and concerns are summarized in the Existing Conditions Report on page 73. Direct further comments to Anne Stedler at anne.stedler@cityofvancouver.us.

Downtown Stakeholders

The project team joined the regularly scheduled Downtown Stakeholders Forum for an hour-long hybrid conversation in July. The meeting included over 35 participants and used comment platform called Mentimeter to collect information from everyone on every question and simultaneously share the collective results with all those present. Downtown Stakeholders’ responses are tabulated on a Mentimeter diagram of the Existing Conditions Report on page 74.
