This photo shows the sun setting over Main Street, looking to the north.

Exciting changes are coming to downtown Vancouver, as the City starts work on the Main Street Promise project. This ambitious infrastructure project will reconstruct Main Street from 5th to 15th Streets.

As the project moves into its next phase, the City has partnered with eleven Block Captains who will help improve communication before and during construction. Block Captains will help share information and facilitate communication between neighboring businesses and property owners within their assigned block. They will also serve as points of contact for the community, helping to share feedback, questions and comments with the project team.

Main Street Promise project handouts and materials will be available on this page. More information about upcoming meeting dates will be added soon.

Block Captains include business owners, property owners, residents, and community members who have a connection to Downtown Vancouver and Main Street. In the coming months, they will help distribute project materials, including fact sheets, comment cards and other relevant documents to neighbors on their respective blocks. Block Captains will also provide monthly reports to the project team that include:

  • The top three concerns or feedback from their block
  • Businesses that need direct follow-up or assistance
  • Construction-related inquiries

Block Captains include:

  • 500/600 Blocks - Marcus Griffith, resident & VDA employee
  • 700 Block - Marianne Wilson Stein, Dandelion Teahouse & Apothecary
  • 800 Block - Dean Irvin, Property Owner
  • 900 Block - Brett Allred, Makayla Olmstead, and James Olmstead, CLASH Beauty
  • 10th Block - Crystal Humble Lary, Eryngium Papeterie
  • 11th Block - Janet Kenefsky, Greater Vancouver Chamber
  • 12th Block - Elise Chelak, Pahlisch Commercial
  • 13th/14th/15th Blocks - Brad Richardson, Clark County Historical Museum
